you're probable right to an extent when you say I expect the show to be to logical, it's just that as I pointed out, even with a show like Xena, I believe they have to stay within certain boundaries.
Like you, I certaintly love the pure entertainment value of the show, and all of Xenas fighting skills, yet still feel she has to remain mortal, otherwise they may as well just give her a lasso and an invisable plane and call her Wonder Woman.

Despite her awesome abilities, earlier in the series she still seemed vunerable, whereas, as others on here have pointed out, toward the end of the show she seemed imbued with almost superhuman powers, and I felt this detracted from the show.



I agree totally with you when you say that Gabrielle could not remain the naive, innocent character she was in the early episodes [ unfortunatly ] and personally I had no problems with how her character developed, her Amazon training and use of the staff as a [ non lethal ] weapon, and would have been quite happy to see her remain like that till the end.

It was toward the end of season four, the India episodes, that I thought the show [ and especially Gabrielles character ] took a serious turn for the worst.
I'm afraid I just could'nt reconcile myself to the fact that she could turn into a warrior almost as vicious as Xena, and with fighting abilities that almost matched those of the Warrior Princess.

Although there were quite a few excellent episodes in seasons five and six, I still felt that as a whole the show lost some of it's magic, at least as far as I was concerned.

Totally agree with Jox and Irene about the 25 year gap as well, just didn't work at all.

As for your own major criticsm, the way the show ended, [ what could the producers have been thinking ] well personally I just prefer to pretend that it never happened, and that Xena and Gabs simply drifted off into old age together.



When you say '' I think you're a huge fan of XWP! '' you're 200% correct, although reading back over what i've just written that may not seem to be the case.
But despite my criticisms, the one constant always remained, and that was of course Xena and Gabrielle and their relationship, and this was what the show was all about for me, it's heart and soul.

Boy, this all seems like pretty serious stuff for what was basically a really fun show, perhaps I need to loosen up a bit.
